Country Pursuits
At the launch of the 2007 Cotswold Show Lord Apsley said: “We aim for a country show that encompasses all aspects of rural living to entertain and educate people from all walks of life." There are plenty of country pursuits at the Show, many of which the public can participate in – great fun for those familiar with them and a learning experience for those not so familiar.
For the shooting fraternity there are shotgun safety lessons from the British Association of Shooting and Conservation while there are gundog demonstrations for those who want to take their dogs into the field. And if you can’t wait to get home to try out the techniques you’ve learned, head for the Clay Shooting stand.
For fishermen there are tips from angler James Green while the Countryside Alliance, Royal Agricultural College Beagles and the VWH hounds demonstrate Hunting With Hounds under the new legislation.
If you like watching highly-trained dogs demonstrating their skills, the National Gundog Weekend is running throughout the Show and Ye Olde Redtail Falconry Display team will give you the opportunity to see birds of prey up close. |
