Cotswold Sheep Society Annual Summer Show

At the Annual Summer Show, the Cotswold Sheep Society usually has almost one hundred sheep entered by members, and the pride of the breed are on show.

Starting at 10am on Sunday, the sheep are shown in eight or nine classes - senior rams, shearling rams (some 12 months old) and ram lambs; then senior ewes, shearing ewes and ewe lambs.  The importance of the Cotswold as a wood breed is relfected in the two classes, one for 'wool on the hoof' and then for 'fleeces'.

Finally the best Cotswold in the Show is judged from the winners of each class together with the Reserve Champion.  Our judges are almost unique, since part of their responsibility is to explain to onlookers in an interesting way why they have chosen the winners in each category. After judging, exhibitors are able to talk to visitors about their sheep and children can meet these magnificent and friendly aninmals at close hand.
